This article written by Dr. Cathy Sweet discusses why the art education is a need for every school. When times get tough it's hard to find money for the basics when part of the money is going to the art classes. At times the schools have to take the money out of the art classes in order to keep the other classes going. Some researchers believe the art classes have no beneficial to the students, but no one argues about the art programs impacting students self esteem in a positive way and help grow student and teacher relationships. Most schools would rather take the easy route to fixing the budget problem instead of looking for other ways that would be fit everyone. "we’d rather look for a quick fix than just do the simplest, most obvious thing: provide high quality art education in our schools." (mpnnow.com, Sweet)
