Recently in the Arizona's school districts, budget cuts were made and in the process the art programs were one of the many programs that were cut. "Cartwright School District, one of the Valley districts hit hardest by the Great Recession, isn’t letting budget cuts imperil its ability to offer students a vibrant arts education." April Morganroth, the reporter and author of this article, said this when she interviewed Kate Cross who was a art teacher for one of the valley schools that lost their funding for the art program. Now schools all over the valley are holding fundraisers to collect money so they may get back the art programs. Parents, teachers, staff members, and students are working together to make this happen. While the schools are holding the fundraisers, Governor Doug Ducey was coming up with ideas and plans to get money back into the education system for the arts. Ducey currently signed a plan to propose a $3.5 billion K-12 education funding bill that will last for the next 10 years. It requires a no increase tax payment, but it does require more funding from the state government. This may citizens all over the valley will come in to vote for this plan to be passed or to be brought back into the drawing board. Doug Ducey is trying to help the art programs and by doing so he could save everything that was lost during the education budget cuts.
